2021 Federal Health Insurance Exchange Open Enrollment Period
CMS issued a third consecutive year update on changing consumer trends, including reduced rates and more plan choices, under the Trump Administration’s latest policies. Three years of falling average second-lowest-cost silver rate (benchmark plan) rates have continued to deliver an 8 percent average decrease in premiums across the Member States using HealthCare.gov since the 2018 coverage year.

Many people coming to HealthCare.gov find that they have more options, provided that the involvement of issuers has also improved for the third year in a row. The percentage of HealthCare.gov registered with access to just one issuer is falling from 29 percent in 2018 to 4 percent in 2021, and more than 75 percent of HealthCare.gov enrolled will have access to at least three issuers in 2021.
Present registrants who do not amend their application to participate in the scheme by the deadline of 15 December 2020 will be automatically enrolled in the same plan or another plan with the same insurance provider expected to be as identical as possible. If this is not possible, they may be covered in another policy scheme by another insurance provider.
People who meet the deadline to re-enroll in the Open Enrollment plan of their choice will still not be allowed to make further adjustments to the plan before the next coverage year unless they apply for any special enrollment period.
