In 2020, 160,249 Alabamans registered for health coverage via healthcare.gov during the Open Enrollment Period.7 This is a decline from 2019 when 166,128 individuals signed up for health benefits in the Health Insurance Exchanges.

What are the Alabama Health Care Subsidies?

If your salary is big, you could be qualified for incentives, such as the Advanced Insurance Tax Credit, also recognized as Obamacare Subsidy. These subsidies make Marketplace’s policies more competitive and will significantly reduce the prices.

For instance, the average price of monthly healthcare insurance premiums in Alabama is $669 free of subsidies.   • Medicaid- With a reduced income or disability, you might be entitled to receive treatment by Medicaid. As of November 2019, nearly 750,000 Alabamans had registered in Medicaid. You can apply if the salary is less than or equal to 146 percent of the Federal Poverty Line. For a family of three, your income cannot surpass $2,643 per month.
  • All Kids- ALL Kids is a low-cost child coverage service for children below the age of . If the family follows the income restrictions, ALL Kids have preventive treatment, access to a sick child clinic, immunizations, and more. Your child must be a U.S. resident or qualified alien and not protected by any other insurance. As of November 2019, more than 173,000 children were enrolled in ALL Kids.

What If You Qualify for Medicare?

Alabama health insurance marketplace 2020If you are above 65 years of age, you are eligible for Medicare coverage. Most citizens have Medicare Part A premium-free. This version does not have a premium for as long as you or your partner have worked and paid Medicare taxes for a defined duration.

If you are not eligible for Part A premium-free Medicare, you might choose to order it. You’ll have to spend up to $458 a month to do this.

In Alabama, nearly 650,000 people are participating in Original Medicare, whereas approximately 390,000 are enrolled in the Medicare Benefit Plans. An estimated 365,124 state people are registered in the Medicare Part D—a stand-alone prescription medication coverage.
